Ford Explorer: A Tremor Version on the Horizon

2025-03-20

After the Explorer Timberline, the American automaker's SUV will be getting a Tremor variant with even better off-road capabilities. Unfortunately, the two models will not coexist, meaning one will make way for the other.

We don’t yet have all the details about the Ford Explorer Tremor, but we expect a raised suspension, chunkier tires, and wheels specifically designed to withstand heavy impacts. Not to mention a true plethora of orange-colored accents.

A Revealing Image

Ford does not directly mention the Explorer, but we can clearly identify its SUV by the taillights and part of its name. This is excellent news for fans of the model because, as you may already know, Ford has not renewed the Timberline version for 2025.

The Tremor name has become synonymous with off-road driving at Ford. It is found on several models in the automaker’s lineup, such as the F-150, Expedition, and Maverick. The Timberline name wasn’t bad, but I believe the brand made the right decision by standardizing its range.

A Powerful Engine

Of course, we would love for the Ford Explorer Tremor to benefit from the most powerful engine in the Explorer lineup—the 3.0-liter V6 that produces over 400 horsepower. However, it is more likely that the American automaker will opt for the 2.3-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine. This engine still offers quite respectable power, with 300 horsepower.

Ford is expected to reveal more details about the Explorer Tremor in the coming months. Needless to say, this is a model we are eagerly anticipating.
